Jimmy Kimmel reveals he has Italian citizenship amid Donald Trump threats
Jimmy Kimmel has revealed he’s become an Italian citizen amid President Donald Trump‘s ongoing attacks on him.
Kimmel, an outspoken critic of the Trump regime, has been ridiculed by the right-wing politician following the cancellation of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert by CBS last month.
During a recent press conference, Trump claimed Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon would be next to lose their nightly shows, stating, “Fallon has no talent. Kimmel has no talent. They’re next. They’re going to be going. I hear they’re going to be going. I don’t know, but I would imagine because they’d get—you know, Colbert has better ratings than Kimmel or Fallon.”
He also wrote on Truth Social on July 22nd: “The word is, and it’s a strong word at that, Jimmy Kimmel is NEXT to go in the untalented Late Night Sweepstakes, and shortly thereafter, Fallon will be gone.”
Now, during a new appearance on Sarah Silverman’s podcast, Kimmel revealed, “I did get Italian citizenship. I do have that.”
The late-night talk show host continued: “What’s going on is… as bad as you thought it was gonna be, it’s so much worse. It’s just unbelievable. I feel like it’s probably even worse than (Trump) would like it to be.”
He also expressed sympathy for former Trump supporters that are now criticising the administration, adding, “There are a lot of people… now you see these clips of Joe Rogan saying: ‘Why’s he doing this? He shouldn’t be deporting people.’ People go: ‘Fuck you, you supported him.’ I don’t buy into that. I don’t believe ‘Fuck you, you supported him’.
Many notable figures from the entertainment industry have explored the possibility of leaving the US in recent months, including Ellen DeGeneres, who moved to England due to Trump, and Rosie O’Donnell, who now lives in Ireland.
