Jessica Chastain and Adam Driver to star in new Apple TV+ series ‘The Dealer’

After a competitive bidding war, Apple TV+ has acquired their next show The Dealer, a drama starring Oscar winner Jessica Chastain and Oscar-nominee Adam Driver.

The Dealer is executive produced by the A Dolls House, Part 2 team of Sam Gold, Lucas Hnath and Sarah Lunnie. Michael Ellenberg and Lindsey Springer will also be executive producing the series under Media Res, with Chastain and Kelly Carmichael producing through Chastain’s production company Freckle Films, as well as Driver and Alan Poul.

Written by Hnath and directed by Gold, the series has been described as an “exploration of class, power, seduction and culture within the high-end art world, as told through the perspective of an aspiring gallery owner, played by Chastain, and her complex relationship with a talented artist, played by Driver.”

This series will mark Media Res’ fourth for Apple TV+. The company also produces its hit series, The Morning ShowPachinko, and Extrapolations.

The Dealer will also be the fourth high-profile sale the production company has made over the last few months. Media Res is also leading a new Ben Stiller series called The Band and a romantic drama series called Enigma Variations, led by Jeremy Allen White, for Netflix. The company has also helmed The Miniature Wife, in which Matthew Macfadyen stars.

This will mark Chastain’s second series for Apple TV+ which she both produces and stars in. The actor also produced The Savant for the streaming service and starred in Scenes From a Marriage for HBO with Media Res.

Notably, the series will be Driver’s second major TV role after his role in Girls, with the actor recently starring in Megalopolis.
