Jennifer Lawrence names “most incredible movie I’ve seen my entire life”

Jennifer Lawrence has revealed which recent blockbuster was the “most incredible movie” she has ever seen in her “entire life”.

Lawrence has previously shared that she found watching some of director Paul Thomas Anderson’s work difficult. In 2018, she admitted that she had tried, and failed, to watch his slow-burn romance, Phantom Thread.

At that time, she shared, “I got through about three minutes of it. I put in a good, solid three. Oh my god, I couldn’t. I’m sorry to anybody who loved that movie. I couldn’t give that kind of time.”

However, the times are changing, and Lawrence’s taste in films has evidently changed with it. Anderson’s new film, One Battle After Another, completely won her over. “Oh, my god. I saw it last night in 70mm IMAX as God intended. It’s the most incredible movie I’ve ever seen in my entire life,” she said in an interview with The New York Times.

The movie follows Bob, played by Leonardo DiCaprio, who is a former revolutionary for the far-left group French 75. With his glory days behind him, he abuses drink and drugs while living off the grid. In the movie, he is thrust back into action to save his daughter, Willa (played by Chase Infiniti). It is loosely based on the original novel Vineland by Thomas Pynchon.

The huge movie investigations themes such as immigration, patriotism, and toxic masculinity. Despite its heavy political nature, the film is to be submitted to the Golden Globes as a comedy.

Despite Lawrence’s high praise, it hasn’t been a hit for everyone. American Psycho author Bret Easton Ellis had criticised One Battle After Another, claiming it will be viewed as a “musty relic of the post-Kamala Harris era, that thing everyone gathers around and pretends is so fantastic and so great when it really isn’t, just to make a point”. The nail-biting film landed in cinemas on September 26th.

However, Far Out fall in agreement with Lawrence. In a four-and-a-half-star review of One Battle After AnotherFar Out wrote: “Revitalising old stars and launching new ones, it does it all there too, as every single element of this movie, every person and every detail, feels masterful. It’s a Hollywood romp that has been through the rigours of arthouse attention to detail and intention to stir.”
