Jamie Lee Curtis claims ICE is being used as “a distraction” from the Epstein files
Jamie Lee Curtis has spoken out against the Donald Trump administration and the increased presence of ICE on the streets in Minnesota, suggesting that it is providing a “distraction” from the files that relate to the late Jeffrey Epstein.
The star made the crucial statement while lending a helping hand to non-profit Project Angel Food, beginning earnestly, as per Variety, “Every day I think I’m not going to be shocked anymore and then I’m shocked.”
The Everything Everywhere All At Once star continued, “It’s just inhuman. It is inhuman the way this administration is treating its citizens, its constituents, and people in need. It’s an abhorrence what they’re doing. The ICE situation is out of control.”
Curtis then turned her attention to the latest release of files from the Department of Justice, which has seen over three million assets shared, highlighting who was connected to the late paedophile financier. “It’s simply a distraction so that we don’t pay attention to the Epstein files,” Curtis claimed.
In November last year, the Halloween actor also called out Trump, in reaction to a video that showed the president calling a female reporter a “piggy”.
At the time, Curtis shared, “I think that unhinged moment of his abuse and vile behaviour is going to be his undoing.”
The actor isn’t the only public figure to speak out about the situation in Minneapolis. At the Grammy Awards, plenty of familiar faces condemned the rise of ICE agents on the streets, with Billie Eilish controversially saying in her acceptance speech for ‘Song of the Year’: “No one is illegal on stolen land.”
The ‘Wildflower’ singer faced backlash from Kristi Noem, who deemed the singer “ill-informed” for her comments about ICE, and Elon Musk, who also described her as “such a hypocrite” on X.
Musicians have been using their platform to share their resistance to ICE: Bruce Springsteen, Billy Bragg, Dropkick Murphys, and more have all released their own protest songs, in order to raise money for anti-ICE charities and honour Rennee Good and Alex Pretti, two American citizens killed by ICE Agents within the last month.
