James Norton suffered horrific injury while filming latest drama: “That was a challenge”

Actor James Norton has revealed that he suffered a horrific injury while filming his latest drama, noting how “that was a challenge”.

The star is set to appear in King and Conqueror, the new period drama from CBS Studios, where he confessed that he sustained a broken collarbone while performing stunts on set, which had the capacity to hinder his part.

Norton said in a recent interview with the Radio Times that although his injury didn’t hold up filming, he was forced to endure some pretty painful moments as a result. “For the latter half of the shoot and some of those battle scenes, I’m yelping very loudly, and the yelps are pretty authentic,” he explained, before going on to note how he tried to not allow it to affect the rest of the process.

“That was a challenge but it really was remarkable how quickly and efficiently the crew took it on and we got through it perfectly, it didn’t affect the shoot at all,” he added.

Norton stars alongside Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Clémence Poésy, and Emily Beecham in King and Conqueror, which follows two men who clash at the Battle of Hastings, and how their fight went on to shape the course of the end of the Anglo-Saxon era and beyond.

However, Norton could soon have to become used to sustaining similar injuries while performing elaborate stunts, as he is one of the leading names being rumoured to take on the iconic role of James Bond. Despite this, an unknown actor has reportedly also been testing for the part.

King and Conqueror will air on Prime Video in the United States, and the BBC in the UK.
