Jacob Elordi’s only knowledge of Elvis Presley was from ‘Lilo & Stitch’ before ‘Priscilla’

Australian actor Jacob Elordi has admitted that before he landed the role of Elvis Presley in Priscilla, his knowledge of the iconic musician was extremely limited.

The star, who got his breakthrough in the Netflix original trilogy The Kissing Booth before landing a role in Euphoria, portrays ‘The King’ in Sofia Coppola’s upcoming biopic. Yet, while appearing on The Tonight Show, Elordi told host Jimmy Fallon that he only knew Presley through a Disney movie.

“The most I knew of Elvis was in Lilo & Stitch… Which is a lot,” he revealed. The singer’s music prominently features in the 2002 movie, with the human Lilo introducing her pet alien Stitch to the King’s songs.

Elsewhere, Elordi discussed his audition for Priscilla and how he prepared to embody the rock ‘n’ roll pioneer. “Sofia had sent me these sides that said Elvis, and I kinda just was like, ‘There’s no chance that this is happening’.”

“I watched this clip of him when he came back from the Army in Germany and read the lines for like 15 minutes and then shot two takes not thinking it would go anywhere,” he added.

In a four-star review of Priscilla, Far Out wrote: “Priscilla once again puts forth the idea that wealth and aspiration will always play second fiddle to what human beings genuinely want (regardless of their levels of affluence). All Priscilla wanted was to be loved and cared for, to live her own life in partnership with her husband, and what she got was a drug-addicted, self-obsessed, cultural phenomenon – a phenomenon that she would never entirely be able to remove herself from.”
