Jack White’s Third Man Records have announced plans to open a new store front and recording location in London’s Soho district. The new location is set to launch on September 25.
Like other Third Man outposts in Nashville and Detroit, the London location will feature a storefront at which patrons can purchase records by Third Man artists, including White’s bands The White Stripes, The Dead Weather, and The Raconteurs. The building’s basement will also be transformed into a live music venue called ‘The Blue Basement’, modelled after The Blue Room at the Nashville location.
The store also continues White’s tradition of mixing business, commerce, recording, and personal storage in his facilities. Just as the Nashville location includes a record pressing plant and the company’s main offices, the London location will serve as the headquarters for Third Man’s European arm, handling distribution of the label’s records as well as providing commerce.
White has been busy lately, recently launching his own website for his art and designs, including many of the album covers and interior work at Third Man. The label itself continues to produce its archival vault series, which most recently included the repressing of Captain Beefheart’s Trout Mask Replica, plus various Live at Third Man Records performances from artists like Coldplay and Billie Eilish, sold exclusively at the store and exclusively on vinyl.
