Jack White releases video starring John C Reilly for ‘Archbishop Harold Holmes’

Jack White has surprise released a music video for his latest single ‘Archbishop Harold Holmes’, starring Hollywood actor John C Reilly.

The musician unexpectedly unleashed the video for the single on June 17th, taken from his most recent album No Name, featuring Reilly as the eponymous religious leader delivering an electrifying sermon to his congregation.

The actor, who is a long-time fan of the former White Stripes singer, approached him about starring in the video after hearing the song for the first time last year and being inspired to play the character.

Subsequently, the pair brought on board director Gilbert Trejo to helm the video, and the shockwave rock vision for the track was given its new life.

Reilly’s leading appearance in the video comes after he recently launched his own music career under the pseudonym Mister Romantic, releasing his debut album of vaudeville reminiscent songs, inspired by an alter-ego character which attracted him to the film industry in the first place.

For the part of White, the release of the ‘Archbishop Harold Holmes’ music video comes as his first new output since the album the song was taken from, No Name, was released last summer.

However, the musician created a firestorm of mystery and intrigue within its wake, releasing the record on vinyl only for the first month, before it became more widely available in August last year.

No Name, which marks White’s sixth solo studio effort, was met with a four-and-a-half-star review from Far Out. Subsequently, the musician has been touring Europe and Asia over the past months, and has a string of US festival dates lined up for this summer, culminating in the CBGB Fest in New York on September 27th.
