Iron Maiden will miss Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony

Iron Maiden will be skipping the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction, despite years of eligibility and two failed nominations.

In 2023, frontman Bruce Dickinson said that the Hall was “an utter and complete load of bollocks” and that he didn’t want to be inducted.

At least it seems that Dickinson won’t be made to share niceties with an organisation he once lashed out at, as the band will not be making it to the ceremony.

Band manager Rod Smallwood confirms through Billboard that Iron Maiden won’t appear at the coveted ceremony, as they don’t want to interrupt the Australia/New Zealand leg of their Run For Your Lives Tour.

Unfortunately, the two events provide an impossible logistical clash.

Smallwood shared, “As the most observant have already noticed, the band will be on tour in Australia around the November date of the Induction ceremony for the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in Los Angeles.”

He added, “In accepting, Iron Maiden made it very clear to the R&R HoF that the fans always come first and that the shows will of course go on…”

With one eye on the huge fanbase, the friendly manager added, “We would like to assure all our fans in Australasia that the Australian and New Zealand dates will remain unaffected, and we look forward to bringing the Run For Your Lives Tour to them on the penultimate stop of our 50th anniversary celebrations.”

Fans have noted that the event, which takes place on November 14th in Los Angeles, falls on an off-night for the band when they are resting from live performances. In theory, they might be able to make it to the location, but have opted for rest.

However, it’s not all bad blood, as the metal icons put out a statement of celebration upon news that they had finally received the honour.

Earlier this week, Smallwood shared, “Iron Maiden have always been about our relationship with our fans above anything else, including awards and industry accolades. However, having said that, it’s always nice to be recognised and honoured for any achievements within the music industry too!

Other inductees include Oasis, Luther Vandross, Wu-Tang Clan, and Joy Division/New Order.
