Iron Maiden triumph at Knebworth: Here’s their full setlist

On July 11th, Iron Maiden soared through their only UK concert of the year at Knebworth Park in celebration of their 50th anniversary.

The heavy metal stalwarts played at the iconic venue near Stevenage alongside The Darkness, The Hu, Airbourne, and The Almighty, during a weekend billed as “Eddfest”.

“It’s going to be one for the history books… in a really historic venue,” said Iron Maiden’s manager, Rod Smallwood, at the time of the announcement. He was certainly right about that, as the iconic band had last performed at the park in 2014 as the headliners of the Sonisphere Festival.

However, this headline show was booked at a somewhat unfortunate time, as England were simultaneously battling Norway in the World Cup quarter-final.

“You’d think there was a football match on!” vocalist Bruce Dickinson beamed in front of the 50,000 adoring fans in attendance.

After the crowd was warmed up by recording tracks ‘Doctor Doctor’ by UFO, and the 1981 track ‘The Ideas of March’, the band kicked off with their first song of the night, ‘Murders in the Rue Morgue’.

From there, they barrelled through hits like ‘Wrathchild’, ‘Killers’, ‘Phantom of the Opera’, ‘The Number of the Beast’ and ‘Infinite Dreams’.

On a night that was being professionally recorded for the Run For Your Lives Tour film, they left no stone unturned as they then smashed through ‘Powerslave’, ‘2 Minutes to Midnight’, ‘Rime of the Ancient Mariner’ and ‘Run to the Hills’.

Leading up to the encore, they shot through a four-set run, including ‘Seventh Son of a Seventh Son’, ‘The Trooper’, ‘Hallowed Be They Name’, and the eponymous ‘Iron Maiden’.

The band was ushered back onto the stage after a thunderous fan plea for an encore; they played three more songs for the doting crowd, including ‘Aces High’, ‘Fear of the Dark’, and finally, ‘Wasted Years’.
