Iron Maiden confirm phone-free standing area in Paris show
Iron Maiden have become the latest band to enforce a phone-free rule at one of their gigs.
The band is gearing up to play the La Défense Arena on June 22nd as part of their gargantuan Run For Your Lives Tour.
The metal stalwarts have now shared that the live show will be filmed; because of this, fans in the standing area and general admission area will not be allowed to use their phones.
Following the routine many other phone-free concerts deploy, fans in those areas will have their devices locked into Yondr pouches on entry.
In case of emergencies, designated phone-use areas will be available, while physical payment cards will be required at bars and merchandise stands.
Iron Maiden shared a step-by-step guide on their Facebook detailing how fans can use these lockable phone devices.
In the caption, they wrote, “The standing/General Admission area in La Défense Arena will be entirely phone-free to make sure the experience is optimal for the live recording of the Run For Your Lives Tour film.”
It concluded, “Yondr pouches will be provided upon entry to the venue to store your mobile device during the show. Your device will be locked in the pouch on arrival and unlocked when you leave at the end of the night.”
Iron Maiden’s manager, Ron Smallwood, has previously urged fans to think about leaving their devices in their pockets during the shows in order to experience them “in the moment”.
After writing a post titled ‘Put Away Your Phones and Get Ready to Run For Your Lives!’, he followed up with a statement of gratitude for those who followed suit, while wishing fans who didn’t “nothing but a very sore arm”.
Despite vocalist Bruce Dickinson’s recent criticism that some old rockstars ought to retire, the band is still charging full steam ahead on Iron Maiden’s Run for Your Lives Tour, with the North American leg kicking off late August.
