Swedish band, I Break Horses, have announced their return with Warnings, their first new album in six years.
The band, made up of Maria Lindén and Fredrik Balck, will share their new record through Bella Union on May 8th, arriving as the follow-up to 2014 effort Chiaroscuro. To coincide with the news, the group have released new single from the record, ‘I’ll Be the Death of You’.
The long gap in between records has seen the band suffer numerous setbacks in their bid to push the boundaries of their sound, repeatedly attempting new collaborations and exploring the world of cinematic sounds. However, a crashed hard drive would see years of hard work evaporate and their project hit reversed back to day one.
“It has been some time in the making,” Lindén said in a press release before explaining that the new record “is not a political album, though it relates to the alarmist times we live in. Each song is a subtle warning of something not being quite right.”
Lindén continues: “About five years, involving several studios, collaborations that didn’t work out, a crashed hard drive with about two years of work, writing new material again instead of trying to repair it. New studio recordings, erasing everything, then recording most of the album myself at home… ”
