Husband of woman involved in Coldplay kiss-cam scandal addresses incident
The husband of Kristin Cabot, the woman caught on camera in the arms of former Astronomer CEO Andy Byron at a Coldplay concert in July, has spoken out to confirm that they had separated prior to the incident happening.
Andrew Cabot, who himself is the CEO of a company called Privateer Rum, has said via a spokesperson that he and his wife had been separated for a number of weeks prior to the Coldplay gig in Boston, Massachusetts, earlier this summer.
It comes after it emerged that Kristin Cabot was filing for divorce from her husband, which had seemingly been misconstrued as being related to the kiss-cam incident. However, Andrew Cabot has now clarified this by saying they “were privately and amicably separated several weeks before the Coldplay concert.”
His spokesperson told People: “Their decision to divorce was already underway prior to that evening. Now that the divorce filing is public, Andrew hopes this provides respectful closure to speculation and allows his family the privacy they’ve always valued.”
The statement added that no further comments would be made, but Kristin Cabot is yet to respond to the latest developments in the process.
The fallout from the incident, in which Cabot and Byron were seen embracing each other when a camera landed on them and they subsequently ducked out of view, led to Byron resigning from his position as the CEO of the company Astronomer, while also separating from his wife.
Cabot, who was formerly the chief people officer at Astronomer – a position she had been hired to in November 2024 – has also now left the company.
At the time of the incident, when the pair jumped out of sight of the cameras, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin joked, “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.”
Meanwhile, Coldplay have continued to bring their kiss-cam across the world, and are currently nearing the end of their record-breaking ten-show residency at Wembley Stadium in London. The final concert is set for September 12th.
