‘Home Alone’ actor Daniel Stern cited by police in prostitution case

Home Alone star, Daniel Stern, has been cited by police in connection with an alleged prostitution sting.

As reported by TMZ, the 68-year-old actor was cited by law enforcement on December 10th, in California’s Ventura County. He was caught during an alleged sting operation at a hotel in Camarillo.

Though Stern was not arrested at the scene, he was issued a citation for soliciting prostitution. It remains unclear whether prosecutors will file formal charges; as such, no court date has been scheduled.

In the Golden State, soliciting a prostitute is a misdemeanour, which means that violators can face up to six months in jail or a $1,000 fine if convicted.

Around the same time, the iconic festive movie that made Stern a household name was celebrating its 35th anniversary, though the actor opted not to attend any of the events.

Speaking on this decision, he told People, “It’s no offense to the movie. I’m just … a phone call, Zoom call, I’m in, but… I’m a bit of a homebody.”

Only days before the prostitution sting, it was announced that Stern had been commissioned to help decorate the original home in which the first of the Christmas movies took place, situated in Winnetka, Illinois.

Of his new job, Stern explained, “I got a call from the people who own the Home Alone house, and I’m a sculptor, they asked if I would do a sculpture for the house. So I’m creating a sculpture of me and the spider.”

This will be Stern’s first self-portrait. The actor officially swapped out Hollywood for a ranch in Ventura some years ago, in order to focus on his art.

“I’ve been looking at myself in my studio, and I’ve made myself a lot handsomer than I actually am in real life,” he shared. “Just why not?”

In October, Stern was rushed to the hospital after suffering a “medical emergency” in Ventura County, but made a full recovery. He has not commented on the soliciting citation.
