Henry Cavill stars in trailer for Guy Ritchie’s new movie ‘The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare’
The first trailer has arrived for Guy Ritchie’s upcoming World War II drama, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, starring Henry Cavill.
The forthcoming film is an adaptation of the book Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare: How Churchill’s Secret Warriors Set Europe Ablaze and Gave Birth to Modern Black Ops by Damien Lewis. In 2015, Paramount purchased the rights to turn it into a motion picture, with Ritchie becoming attached to the project in 2021.
The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare explores the declassified files of the British War Department, and the secret group of military officials that were banded together by Winston Churchill. One notable figure who was part of the sect is Ian Fleming, the novelist behind the James Bond series.
The official description for the film reads: “The top-secret combat unit, composed of a motley crew of rogues and mavericks, goes on a daring mission against the Nazis using entirely unconventional and utterly ‘ungentlemanly’ fighting techniques. Ultimately their audacious approach changed the course of the war and laid the foundation for the British SAS and modern Black Ops warfare.”
The upcoming movie sees Cavill reunite with Ritchie following their previous work together in 2015 on The Man from U.N.C.L.E..
Following the release of the aforementioned film, Cavill told The Guardian of his experience of teaming up with the director: “Guy was always telling us, ‘No one’s too cool, no one’s too funny, no one’s too stupid. It’s got that lovely thing of people seeming to be very sharp, then suddenly falling through a doorway. It makes larger-than-life characters human.”
The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare is set to arrive in cinemas on April 19th, watch the first trailer below.
