Heart’s Ann Wilson provides health update following cancer diagnosis
Ann Wilson, the lead singer of Heart, has provided a health update after stepping away from touring earlier this year for chemotherapy treatement.
Heart cancelled a number of shows across Europe and the United Kingdom in May due to a “time-sensitive but routine medical procedure.” In July, the singer announced that she had been diagnosed with cancer and was undergoing treatment.
“I underwent an operation to remove something that, as it turns out, was cancerous,” she wrote on Instagram at the time, “The operation was successful & I’m feeling great, but my doctors are now advising me to undergo a course of preventive chemotherapy & I’ve decided to do it.”
The doctors instructed Wilson to take a year off the road, leading Heart to cancel their live shows for the remainder of the year. Now, Wilson has provided an update on her health via social media.
In a new Instagram post, Wilson shared, “I’m doing absolutely fine now, but it’s been, to put it mildly, a lot. Chemo is no joke. It takes a lot out of a person. And then there’s that two weeks of waiting around for test results, a form of mental torture. For anyone who’s been through that, I empathise big time.”
The Heart singer went on to state that, “luckily,” her results were positive and she has finished chemotherapy. She encouraged fans to “get checked regularly” and announced her plans to return to the road next year.
