Fresh from picking up the Breakthrough Act of the Year accolade at Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide Awards, soulful singer-sonwriter Ady Suleiman has unveiled this sumptuous cover of Bob Marley’s ‘Guiltiness’.
Suleiman brings the tune right into the 21st Century, sprinkling it with a production style that maintains the track’s spine-tingling rawness, while also giving it a slicker guise this time around, throwing a little bit of extra dub into the mix.
It’s been a whirlwind year for the 22-year-old, who has gone from relative obscurity to performing at Glastonbury and Reading & Leeds, and securing support slots with the likes of Lianne Le Havis and Laura Mvula.
It’s the kind of brave choice of cover that can tend to polarise opinion, but don’t let us make your mind up for you, listen to it below via Soundcloud.
What’s more, if your hungry for more there’s a full-length album of Suleiman’s original material in the pipeline for 2015.
