HBO share first look at ‘Euphoria’ cast after time jump
HBO has teased Euphoria fans online with a sneak peek into the teen drama five years on from where season two closed.
The third season of the iconic show will launch in April, over four years after the second season aired. Notably, many of the actors have gone on to procure huge careers in the time since season two, including Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney, and Zendaya.
Now, they’re back in the drug-fuelled world of Euphoria. On December 12th, HBO and HBO Max took to Instagram to share new character shots of the cast, as well as a short teaser clip.
Zendaya’s Rue can be seen south of the border in Mexico and is in debt to drug dealer Laurie, played by Martha Kelly. Her storyline will involve the troubled drug user “trying to come up with some very innovative ways to pay it off,” Levinson has shared previously. “Hello, heart,” the caption to her photo reads.
Sweeney‘s Cassie and Elordi‘s Nate are now engaged, but things seem off behind closed doors. Cassie is “very addicted to social media and envious of what appears to be the big lives that all of her high school classmates are living at this point in time.”
Elordi’s character cuts a mean figure while fondling raw meat in the kitchen. The caption reads “Do you trust yourself?” Sweeney’s character can be seen holding an ice cream, along with the caption, “She has n̶e̶v̶e̶r̶ ̶e̶v̶e̶r̶ been happier.”
Hunter Schafer‘s Jules is in art school, and Alexa Demi’s Maddy is working at a Hollywood talent agency for a manager while having “her own side hustles”. Maude Apatow‘s Lexi is working as an assistant to a new character played by the iconic Sharon Stone.
Maddy’s caption reads “Maddy knew who she was from a very early age,” while Jules’ reads “I really missed you.”
During the teaser clip, Zendaya’s Rue provides a voice-over which admits, “A few years after high school, I don’t know if life was exactly what I wished.”
The series will welcome a host of new names, including Trisha Paytas, Natasha Lyonne, Danielle Deadwyler, and Eli Roth.
