Hatebreed’s Wayne Lozniak issues positive health update following brain tumour removal

Wayne Lozniak, guitarist with heavy rock band Hatebreed, has issued a positive health update after undergoing surgery to remove a benign brain tumour.

During their performance at Download Festival in June, Lozniak previously stated that he began “experiencing mild symptoms that raised concerns of a possible stroke”, which led him to seek medical help when they arrived in France the following day.

In Lille, Lozniak had a CT scan, which is when the benign tumour was discovered. The medical team said his tumour was “a slow-growing mass that has likely been present for years”.

Now, in a new social media post, Lozniak has shared that his surgery was successful and that he’s out of the hospital.

He wrote on Instagram: “Hello everyone! I’m finally home. Last week was rough! But I’m getting better every day. Gonna be a while before I get fully recovered, but it’s going good! I want to thank you all for all the messages. I didn’t have my phone in the hospital, so that’s why I didn’t respond. Just started to look over them today. I really appreciate it! Made me feel good!”

The guitarist continued, “I also want to thank Kat Nacario!!! She stayed with me in the room all week, and contacted people to let them know what was going on. She is the greatest! I love You!”

He also thanked those who have cared for him for their “great” help and “for getting me the best care”. Lozniak signed off by writing, “Thanks again, for all the messages! Onward & upward!”

While Lozniak is unable to perform, Hatebreed’s touring bassist Matt Bachand is filling in for him on guitar duties, and Carl Schwartz has been deputising on bass. The band are set to return to the United Kingdom in October for a headline tour, including a huge show at London’s OVO Wembley Arena.
