Hatebreed guitarist reveals brain tumour diagnosis

Rock band Hatebreed have revealed their guitarist Wayne Lozniak has been diagnosed with a brain tumour during their ongoing European tour.

Over the weekend, Hatebreed performed at Download Festival in England and during their set, Lozniak began “experiencing mild symptoms that raised concerns of a possible stroke”.

Following on from their show, they headed to Lille for another show on June 16th, and upon arrival in the French city, Lozniak sought medical advice. “Out of an abundance of caution, he sought medical attention the following day upon arriving in Lille, France,” the band’s post stated.

It continued: “After undergoing a CT scan at the ER, doctors discovered a brain tumor, leading to his immediate admission for further testing.”

Hatebreed then explained the full medical process, sharing, “Following a thorough 24-hour evaluation, including an MRI, it was determined that the tumor is a benign meningioma—a slow-growing mass that has likely been present for years.”

On a positive note, they concluded, “We are immensely relieved that Wayne’s diagnosis is the best possible outcome given the circumstances.”

Lozniak has since returned home to the US to focus on his health. Hatebreed are still set to play a series of festivals across Europe with touring bassist Matt Bachand replacing Lozniak on guitar duties and Carl Schwartz will deputise on bass.

Next month, Hatebreed are set to return to the UK for two huge dates with Slayer at Blackweir Fields in Cardiff and Finsbury Park in London. They will then come back to Britain again in October for a headline tour, including a huge show at London’s OVO Wembley Arena.
