English actor Simon Fisher-Becker, best known for Doctor Who and Harry Potter, has passed away aged 63, his husband has confirmed.

In an update shared on Fisher-Becker’s Facebook page on March 9th, his husband wrote: “Hello everyone. This is Tony, Simon’s husband. I have some very sad news. At 2:50 this afternoon Simon passed away. I’ll be keeping this account open for a while. I’m not sure at this point if I’ll be posting again. Thank you.”

At this stage, no cause of death has been revealed regarding Fisher-Becker’s passing.

Fisher-Becker was best known for his role as Dorium in the revival of Doctor Who, appearing in series five and six of the reboot featuring Matt Smith. The late actor also revived the character for the podcast spin-off series’ Doctor Who: The Eleventh Doctor Chronicles and Jenny – The Doctor’s Daughter.

He also appeared in Harry Potter and The Philosopher Stone as Hufflepuff House’s resident ghost, the Fat Friar. Other notable credits in Fisher-Becker’s career include Les Misérables, One Foot In The Grave and Doctors.

In a statement provided to Metro, his agent Kim Barry of Jaffrey Management shared: “Today I lost not only a client in Simon Fisher-Becker, but a close personal friend of 15 years standing. I shall never forget the phone call I made to him when he was offered the part of Dorium Moldovar in BBC’s Dr Who.

Barry continued: “Simon was also a writer, a raconteur and a great public speaker. He helped me out enormously and was kind, gracious and interested in everyone. My condolences go to his husband Tony, his brother, nieces and nephews and his legion of fans.”
