Halle Berry reveals Chris Hemsworth “stood up” for her during filming of new movie ‘Crime 101’

Halle Berry has revealed that Chris Hemsworth, her co-star in the upcoming movie Crime 101, stood up for her during the filming process.

The pair might both be members of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with Berry known for playing Storm while Hemsworth portrays Thor, but they’ve never starred in an MCU movie together before. Rather, their first time sharing the screen comes with Crime 101, adapted from the novella by Don Winslow and directed by Bart Layton.

The crime drama will also star Mark Ruffalo, Barry Keoghan, Monica Barbaro, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Nick Nolte and will be released later this year.

While Berry didn’t go into detail, the actor explained to E! News at CinemaCon that she has deep respect for Hemsworth because he defended her during filming.

She called him a “stand-up guy,” before adding, “I won’t go into it now, but he stood up for me in a moment in our movie, and instantly I knew right then I’m gonna follow this guy, be a fan of this guy for the rest of his life because he stood up for a woman.”

The actor continued, “He didn’t have to do it and he did it.”

Crime 101 is Layton’s first entirely narrative feature, with the documentarian having previously helmed the long-running series Banged Up Abroad and the docudrama American Animals.

Hemsworth is set to play a thief in the upcoming film. The actor admitted at CinemaCon that he was slightly nervous to work with Berry, although he eventually “loved every second of it.”

He explained, “I’ve admired Halle’s work for many, many years. I was obviously very intimidated to sit opposite her within a scene and try and, you know, not just be in awe of what she was doing.”

“Certain people just bring out not just the best in you, but also sort of a comfort level where it feels like it’s a place to explore and it’s a place to examine different ideas and try different things. And that was the experience [with Berry].”
