HAIM unveil new track ‘Don’t Wanna’

HAIM have shared the brand new track ‘Don’t Wanna’ which is taken from their upcoming third album Women in Music Pt. III, a record that is due to be released on June 26th via Columbia Records.

The song was produced by Danielle Haim, Rostam and Ariel Rechtshaid. The three Haim sisters also co-wrote the song with former Vampire Weekend man Rostam as well.

“This song rolled off the tongue,” the band said of the song in a statement, “it’s sexy, flirty and hopeful.”

Previously, the group shared ‘I Know Alone’, ‘Summer Girl’, ‘Hallelujah’ and ‘The Steps’ from the upcoming album. Before the pandemic struck HAIM were due to share the album in March but that was halted with late June now being the record’s release date.

Following the release of ‘I Know Alone‘ a few weeks ago, on social media, the band explained of the track: “The original plan was to release wimpiii later on this summer well fuck that we are gonna release it on June 26th, just in time for summer we can’t wait.”

Speaking to Beats 1, Alana Haim added that “there’s going to be more surprises from now until then.”

Detailing the new song, Danielle Haim explained in an Instagram post: “‘I know alone’ comes out tomorrow. It was always going to be the next song we wanted to show u guys from wimpiii, but it has kind of taken on a new meaning. The first lyric we wrote was ‘I know alone like no one else does’. This came from feeling like I was in the deepest spiral of being alone and feeling like I felt loneliness deeper than anyone ever had.”
