Haim and Bon Iver team up on new collaboration, ‘Tie You Down’

Haim have released the new single, ‘Tie You Down, featuring Bon Iver.

The track is slow and contemplative, full of harmonised vocals shared between the three sisters and Bon Iver. On the chorus, they sing together, “Put your little heart in me now/ Ain’t this how it’s supposed to be?/ I want you here/ But I don’t know how/ Not to tie you down.”

The artwork of the single continues the campaign of the original album and parodies paparazzi shots of Kristen Dunst and Jake Gyllenhaal from 2003, eating together outside of a restaurant.

Along with the single release, the sisters took to social media to announce that a deluxe edition of I Quit will be released on October 17th. It will contain two more brand new tracks, titled ‘The Story of Us’ and ‘Even the Bad Times’.

Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon also teamed up with the band on the original release. He co-wrote the track ‘Everybody’s Trying to Figure Me Out’.

Elsewhere, Bon Iver recently released a video for their new song, ‘Day One’. In it, Jacob Elordi, St Vincent, Cristin Milioti, and Dijon all auditioned to become the next Vernon, should he ever leave the band.

In a four-and-a-half-star review of I Quit, Far Out observed that the project was “a true demonstration of what the past five years of relative sonic silence has taught them. It feels infinitely more individual and more well-considered as a result, making the album the new blueprint of the purpose Haim serve in the current rock landscape, now and in the future. Dare I say it, could they be the spark to reignite the dominance of bands? I Quit certainly makes me hopeful.”

Meanwhile, in a three-star review for Bon Iver’s recent project, titled Sable, Fable, Far Out commented, “Not all new releases need to feel tightly pulled together with clear direction, and often, this approach works in Bon Iver’s favour. However, certain parts stand out more than others, resulting in a slightly disjointed whole that is sometimes let down by its own quiet weaknesses.”
