Green Day perform secret set a Tiki Bar as an encore for The Coverups
Green Day took to a tiki bar stage over the weekend to give a very intimate performance following an already hit-packed show from Billie Joe Armstrong and Mike Dirnt’s side project, The Coverups.
The Coverups had been performing at the show as one of many special gigs that Armstrong and Dirnt take on alongside their manager Bill Schneider and audio engineer Chris Dugan. The group, who only do covers, have been getting a strong fanbase of their own following some epic performances.
The band have covered David Bowie, The Clash and so many more in their time. They filled this performance with Nirvana’s ‘Drain You’, ‘Kids In America’ by Kim Wilde, ‘Don’t Change’ by INXS, and ‘All the Young Dudes’ by David Bowie among many others.
They ended the show by inviting Green Day drummer Tre Cool on stage so he could sit behind the kit and transform the band into their side project The Foxboro Hot Tubs. They ran through Green Day hits, ‘Father Of All…, ‘Revolution Radio’, ‘Hitchin’ A Ride’, ‘Welcome To Paradise’, ‘Burnout’ and ‘Jesus Of Suburbia’ for a baying crowd.
