Green Day celebrate 25 years of 'Dookie' with a performance of 'Basket Case' at the American Music Awards

Green Day were again using the stage to properly celebrate the 25th anniversary of one of their iconic albums, Dookie. This time they performed the tribute at the American Music Awards last night.

The band were also given a rather lovely introduction from the industry darling of the moment, Billie Eilish who proclaimed the punk trio to be the most important band of her formative years.

At the 2019 event which was held in Los Angeles, Eilish told the audience, “25 years ago, Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tre Cool recorded their iconic album, ‘Dookie’. Growing up, there was no band more important to me or my brother.”

Green Day then quashed rumours of covering a Taylor Swift song in solidarity following her dispute with Scooter Braun, and instead delivered an unstoppable rendition of Dookie’s ‘Basket Case’ as well as their latest track ‘Father of All’.

Below you can see Eilish’s introduction and Green Day giving Los Angeles a reason to believe it’s 1994 again. If only.
