Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong has provided us with another pleasing cover, this time he turned his hand to Starjet’s ‘War Stories’ in what is fast becoming one of our favourite self-isolation traditions.
Last week, Armstrong performed a heartwarming tribute to the late Fountains of Wayne frontman by covering ‘That Thing You Do!’ which was penned by the late singer-songwriter, he has also covered Tiffany’s ’80s bop, ‘I Think We’re Alone Now’ and ‘Corpus Christi by San Francisco’s Avengers.
For his latest cover, the caption simply reads: “This is it, this is it… this is this week’s No Fun Mondays: War Stories by Starjets”. The video for the track is the first one from the series so far that doesn’t include footage from Green Day’s live archive and is instead animated.
Green Day recently announced that their planned European tour alongside Fall Out Boy and Weezer which included stops at Glasgow Green, London Stadium and Huddersfield’s John Smith’s Stadium have all had to be postponed until next summer due to current circumstances.
An official statement from all three bands reads: “There’s nothing that makes our bands happier than playing shows, and maybe no other tour that we’ve all been this excited for, but due to the current health crisis, we’re having to postpone a number of our European shows.
“We’re just as disappointed as you are, but the safety of our fans, staff and touring crew is our top priority. We’re working hard to finalize dates for the rescheduled shows next summer, so hold on to those tickets. Keep rocking…safely…at home, Green Day, Fall Out Boy, Weezer”.
