Gossip reunite and share first new music in 11 years

The indie trio Gossip, led by Beth Ditto, have returned with the lead single for Real Power, their first album in 11 years. The full LP will arrive on March 22nd via Sony Music Entertainment.

Real Power also sees the band reunite with legendary producer Rick Rubin, with whom they previously collaborated on 2009’s Music For Men. Gossip began work on Real Power in 2019 after completing their tour celebrating the album’s tenth anniversary.

The new 11-track release was recorded at Rubin’s home studio in Kauai, Hawaii. After a series of setbacks, mainly attributable to the Covid-19 pandemic, the record was completed earlier this year.

“When we began, so much about Gossip was about running away- that was always in the music,” vocalist Ditto says in press materials. “We survived. We came from nothing, and we got the fuck out of there. And to be here 20 years later and still making music together is just incredible.”

To celebrate the announcement, Gossip have treated fans to the album’s lead single, ‘Crazy Again’. “The song is about actually being in love and feeling so safe,” Ditto said of the uplifting new track.

The music video for ‘Crazy Again’ was helmed by director Ssion. It was shot in Kansas City and depicts the life of a broadcaster, noting the contrast between life on and off camera.
