Gorillaz announce live shows to celebrate 25th anniversary

Gorillaz have announced plans for a mighty celebration of their 25th anniversary, with four huge shows in London and a new exhibition.

‘House of Kong’, the new exhibition, will offer visitors access to the virtual band’s headquarters. It will also document their history since their formation and first single ‘Tomorrow Comes Today’ in 2000.

“An exhibition like no other,” a murky voice promises between montaged images of a dystopian landscape, punctuated by a blood-red sky, in the official teaser video for the exhibition.

The experience chronicles the journey of the members, including bassist Murdoc Niccals, singer 2D, drummer Russel Hobbs, and guitarist Noodle. It will run from August 8th to September 3rd, 2025.

The band are also set to break out of the gallery space and onto the stage for four live shows at Copper Box Arena in London. Their 2023 album Cracker Island proved that the people’s love for the iconic British virtual band remains as strong as ever, and the four nights will likely sell out quickly.

‘House of Kong’ exhibition ticket holders will receive exclusive presale access to these limited-capacity concerts, which can hold 7,500 people a night.

More than this, Damon Albarn’s genius cartoon band has been teasing a new album for release in 2025. Speaking to Les Inrockuptibles previously, he said: “I’m finishing a new Gorillaz album. One opera and one new Gorillaz album seems like enough for 2025! Unless someone accuses me of taking my foot off the gas!”
