Gorillaz announce 2026 North American tour
Gorillaz have announced that they are set to head to North America later this year for a new leg of their current tour.
The band are about to kick off the UK leg of their tour, off the back of their new album The Mountain, but have now revealed that they will also be going Stateside in September after playing their run of European shows.
Damon Albarn and Co. will kick off their 22-gig run on September 17th at the Kia Center in Orlando, Florida and wrap it up on October 31st at the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, Washington, with notable stops along the way including a September 29th billing at the iconic Madison Square Garden in New York.
Notably, British rapper Little Simz will be supporting Gorillaz at selected dates across the tour, while the hip-hop trio Deltron 3030 are set to open for the band at all the shows.
It comes as the virtual band are shortly set to kick off their UK tour with warm up shows billed in Bradford on March 13th and 14th, before they head to arenas in Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow, Leeds, Cardiff, Nottingham, Liverpool, and Belfast over the course of this month, before taking on Europe in June.
Their latest album, The Mountain, was released on February 27th, with Far Out giving it a two-and-a-half star review that said: “Like any good mixtape, this is a lengthy project, but like any bad album, it’s a sprawling mess that goes on too long and explores one too many tangents.”
Albarn explained in a previous interview with The Sun how the album was heavily influenced by the deaths of he and Gorillaz co-founder Jamie Hewlitt’s fathers, which he reflected on in a trip to India.
He recalled: “In a way, I think this record is in that tradition of celebrating their lives. I did things I’d never done before. I swam in the Ganges in Varanasi. I watched the bodies being burnt on the banks of the Ganges.”
The rest of the summer is shaping up to be a busy one for Gorillaz, with festival headline performances at PhillGood and Electric Picnic, as well as their biggest ever headline show taking place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London on June 20th.
Various presales for Gorillaz’s North American tour begin at 10am local time on March 4th and March 6th, respectively, before general sale becomes available from March 9th at 10am local time.
