Goldfrapp has revealed the identity of the naked model on the cover of her single ‘Strict Machine’.
That person? None other than actress Gwendoline Christie who is now well known for her roles in Game of Thrones and Star Wars.
The track, an electronic dance song written which appeared on the band’s second studio album Black Cherry in 2003, describes laboratory rats in neuroscience experiments. At the time of its release, Goldfrapp explained that she was inspired to write the song based on images of the experiment and “more human aspects of machines and sex and control.”
Celebrating the song’s 15th birthday, Goldfrapp posted the revealed on social media: “We just came across this alternate shot from our ‘Strict Machine’ days and still can’t believe it’s been 15 years! Did you know that the lady behind the rabbit mask went on to play Brienne of Tarth in Game of Thrones?”
That actress is, of course, Gwendoline Christie who recently played the role of First Order stormtrooper Captain Phasma in Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015) and Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017).
