Golden Globes 2026: Stephen Graham confirms ‘Adolescence’ series two following victory
Stephen Graham appeared to confirm that a second series of Adolescence is in the works after accepting his prize at the Golden Globes.
Graham was accepting the award for ‘Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Limited Series, Anthology Series, or a Motion Picture Made for Television’ when he emotionally paid tribute to his wife and children, before confirming that there will be more Adolescence to come.
Despite the Netflix show being a limited series, meaning it was only first intended as a standalone work, its rapturous success upon its release in March 2025 meant that rumours have swirled ever since that a second series could be a possibility.
After taking home his award, Graham was asked (via Deadline) whether a follow-up was in the works, to which he replied: “I cannot answer that question because it’s somewhere in the deep recesses of my mind and Jack’s mind, and we’ll pull it out in three or four years, so stay tuned.”
The actor referenced his co-creator for the series, Jack Thorne, with whom he wrote the original four episodes of Adolescence. It backs up reports in Deadline from April, a month after the show’s release, that production company Plan B were already in talks with director Philip Barantini about how to expand the series.
The Golden Globes was another night of continued success all round for Adolescence, with Erin Doherty winning the prize for ‘Female Actor in a Supporting Role on Television’ and its young breakout star, Owen Cooper, taking home ‘Male Actor in a Supporting Role on Television’.
“Standing here at the Golden Globes does not feel real whatsoever. What an incredible journey me and my family has been put through,” Cooper said in his acceptance speech, before adding that he still considers himself an “apprentice” and is “still learning every day”.
The actor’s win, at the age of just 16, makes him the youngest ever person to take home the award for his category, as well as the second youngest Golden Globe winner of all time.
Other winners across the span of the night included Timothée Chalamet for ‘Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy’ for Marty Supreme, and One Battle After Another becoming the most decorated winner, taking home four awards.
