Golden Globe Awards 2021 Nominees: Chadwick Boseman, Frances McDormand, The Crown and more

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has today revealed the full nominees for the 2021 Golden Globes.

The event, which enters its 78th year, welcomed Sarah Jessica Parker and Taraji P. Henson to announce nominees in a virtual broadcast which was aired through NBC and celebrates the best in the worlds of film and television.

The 78th Golden Globes ceremony will officially take place on February 28, and will be hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, the comedic duo returning to the role for what is the fourth time. In a statement, The Golden Globes confirmed: “Fey and Poehler will share duties from their respective cities, with Fey on the East Coast and Poehler on the West Coast. Fey will be live from New York’s Rainbow Room, Poehler will be live from the Beverly Hilton, in Beverly Hills, and nominees, from various locations around the world.”

Adding: “In addition to the categories announced today, the 2021 Golden Globes will honour Jane Fonda with the Cecil B. DeMille Award, and Norman Lear with the Carol Burnett Award. Lear will be the third recipient of the recently created Carol Burnett Award, which honours contributions to television.”

The 78th edition of the Golden Globes, while being aired virtually, signals yet another major change in the content premiered over the past 12 months. Perhaps unsurprisingly, major streaming platforms have seen significant success with Netflix being heavily represented in both the television and film categories as projects such as MankThe Trial of the Chicago 7Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and Pieces of a Woman all lead the way.

In TV, The Crown leads the way with an astonishing six nominations, quickly followed by hit comedy Schitt’s Creek who are represented with five chances of winning.
