GoFundMe launched by Aaron Carter’s mother to get singer Hollywood Walk of Fame star

A GoFundMe campaign has been launched by the mother of Aaron Carter, in an attempt to get the late singer and actor a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Jane Carter Schneck started a page on the fundraising site to gain the necessary $85,000 fee in order to secure a spot on Hollywood’s coveted walk, on top of undergoing a nomination process.

She is attempting the challenge in honour of her son, the singer, teen actor, and brother of The Backstreet Boys’ Nick Carter, after he tragically died aged 34 from drowning after taking drugs in 2022.

Explaining what the funds being raised will contribute towards, the GoFundMe says: “The funds will cover the creation, installation, and long-term maintenance of the star,” before continuing, “We are coming together as fans, friends, and supporters to honor Aaron Carter’s legacy. Every donation, no matter the size, brings us one step closer. If you’re unable to give, sharing this campaign means just as much.”

It adds: “Let’s come together to celebrate Aaron’s life, his music, and the lasting mark he left on so many hearts.”

Schneck told TMZ that she hopes to have the funds raised and the necessary paperwork submitted in order to gain the state by a deadline of May 15th. At the time of writing, hours after the campaign was launched, $220 has been raised by a total of eight donors.

Carter had an extensive history of mental health problems prior to his passing, with Nick Carter paying tribute after his death in 2022 by saying: “I have always held onto the hope, that he would somehow, someday want to walk a healthy path and eventually find the help that he so desperately needed.”

The Backstreet Boys singer also added at the time: “The truth is that addiction and mental illness is the real villain here.”

Carter was thrust into the spotlight at the age of nine, releasing his self-titled debut album in 1997, which went on to sell over a million copies. He then subsequently released five more records, as well as appearing in various TV shows for Nickelodeon and Disney over the years.
