The one goal left on Jennifer Aniston’s career bucket list: “I absolutely have to”

Jennifer Aniston has had one hell of a career. Obviously, her crowning achievement is playing Rachel Green in Friends.

As one sixth of the gang at the centre of this insanely popular sitcom, she took part in some of the most memorable moments in TV history, from having her name said at the altar to getting off the plane in that emotional finale. Ross and Rachael’s storyline is the main thread of the show and turned Aniston into a gigantic star.

When she was still in Friends, she was getting roles in major movies like Bruce Almighty and The Iron Giant, roles that put her firmly on the movie star map. During life after the mega-hit show she’s continued to make her mark in Hollywood. Using her natural timing and affable nature, she has excelled in the comedy space, forming a very successful partnership with Adam Sandler. Add to this another hit show with The Morning Show on Apple TV, as well as being a leading model for many years.

With all this in mind, all the accolades and appreciation counted up, it seems miraculous that Aniston would have anything left to achieve, however there is one major milestone she would like to conquer.

“I definitely want to do a Broadway play,” she told People. “That’s on my bucket list, but it’s finding the time and finding the right piece, the right material. But I absolutely have to do a play on Broadway.”

For most people, starring on a Broadway show is a lifetime ambition, but it would mean a little more to Aniston. She started out treading the boards in New York on productions like Dancing on Checker’s Grave and For Dear Life.

The former Mrs. Brad Pitt would spend a lot more time in the theatre once her obligations at Central Perk wrapped up. She actually did appear on Broadway in 2006, starring in a one-night fundraising special called Three Girls and Bob. It was part of an annual event in which six 10-minute plays were written, rehearsed, and performed within 24 hours. She returned to the same fundraiser in 2009, appearing alongside Brooke Shields in a play called Ramen Noodle, and again in 2010, playing the spirit of a dead dog in a production called The Bitch Downstairs. All three fundraisers took place in the famous Todd Haimes Theatre

Although she has technically trod those most hallowed of boards, Aniston has never properly experienced a full run in America’s most famous theatre district. She is currently in her mid-50s and her name still commands a lot of respect, so surely it’s only a matter of waiting for the right offer to make her Broadway dreams come true.
