Glastonbury 2025: Jarvis Cocker rules Pulp out of festival

Despite fervent speculation, Jarvis Cocker has ruled Pulp out of performing at this year’s Glastonbury Festival.

This summer, Pulp are set to tour arenas across the United Kingdom in June following the release of their new album, More, on June 6th, their first record in 24 years. As a result of their activity and free schedule during Glastonbury weekend, many fans assumed Pulp would return to Worthy Farm, but Cocker has now squashed their hopes.

During a new interview with Scott Mills on BBC Radio 2, Cocker confirmed that he will attend Glastonbury. However, he will not perform with Pulp. “I will be going to Glastonbury, and I might DJ,” he explained.

“Well, you know, I do occasionally DJ at Glastonbury in a place called Stone Bridge near The Park Stage. I will be happy to see what is going on there,” the Pulp frontman elaborated.

The singer was then probed further on a possible Pulp set, which he said the band would only agree to in extreme circumstances, stating, “I don’t think that’s going to happen. If it was a life-or-death situation, but I really don’t think it’s going to happen.”

Pulp have a storied history with Glastonbury. They first headlined in 1995 as a last-minute replacement for The Stone Roses, returned to the top of the Pyramid Stage in 1998 and also made a surprise appearance on The Park Stage in 2011.

Reflecting on their first headline set, Cocker told BBC Radio 2: “We were in the studio recording Different Class and the phone went. I think it was Nick, the drummer, who picked it up and he said that’s stuff we can play at Glastonbury.”

It didn’t take long for Pulp to return the phone call and agree to the headline, which proved to be perfect timing. Cocker added, “It was about three weeks that ‘Common People’ had been in the charts. It was like suddenly, oh yes, we are popular now. It was like a vindication, I suppose.”

Although Pulp won’t be returning to Glastonbury this summer, they have curated their own day at Tramlines Festival in their native Sheffield which also features Spiritualized, Baxter Dury, Fat White Family, John Cooper Clarke and many more.

In June, Neil Young, The 1975, and Olivia Rodrigo will headline Glastonbury. Other acts set to appear across the weekend include Charli XCX, Loyle Carner, The Prodigy, Raye, The Maccabees, Wet Leg, The Libertines, and Doechii.
