Glastonbury 2024: Hollywood star confirmed to appear

Glastonbury Festival have unveiled a new batch of names who are set to play at the Somerset event in June, including Hollywood A-lister Russell Crowe.

Outside of his work in the film industry, the Academy Award-winner has consistently been performing and making music over the last 40 years. While it’s his high-profile movie roles that pay the bills, Crowe is committed to the cause, and whenever his busy schedule allows, the New Zealand-born actor is on the road playing live.

This summer, Crowe is bringing his Indoor Garden Party to Europe. The run of headline dates begins in Dublin on July 1st, before visiting cities as varied as Paris, Leeds, and Pompeii. However, before the tour gets underway, the Indoor Garden Party will play the Acoustic Stage at Glastonbury on June 29th.

Other acts who have been confirmed for the stage include legendary folk singer-songwriter Judy Collins, The Bootleg Beatles, Bernard Butler, Stornoway, Ocean Colour Scene, Gipsy Kings, Frankie Archer, Grace Petrie and many more.

The latest wave of acts join headliners Dua Lipa, Coldplay, and SZA, who will each take to the Pyramid Stage at Pilton. Meanwhile, Shania Twain has previously been confirmed for the legend’s slot at the esteemed event.

Other acts who will appear across the weekend include LCD Soundsystem, Little Simz, Idles, The National, The Streets, Michael Kiwanuka, Fontaines D.C., Bloc Party, The Last Dinner Party, Jungle, Disclosure, Jamie XX, PJ Harvey, Janelle Monae, Sampha, James Blake, Sleaford Mods and Avril Lavigne.

Glastonbury is set to announce more acts in the near future, including the winner of the Emerging Talent Competition, set to be revealed on April 27th. The eight artists in contention are: The Ayoub Sisters, Bryte, Caleb Kunle, JayaHadADream, KID 12, Nadia Kadek, Olivia Nelson, and Problem Patterns.

The winners of the Emerging Talent Competition will also receive a £5,000 Talent Development prize from the PRS Foundation. Additionally, two runners-up will be handed a £2,500 Talent Development prize courtesy of the charity.

In a statement, Glastonbury organiser Emily Eavis said of the competition: “At a time when it’s not always easy for acts to get their foot on the ladder, we’re really happy to be able to offer this opportunity for rising artists. So many amazing acts have been showcased by the Emerging Talent Competition over the years – and, as with the Festival, we welcome artists from all musical genres.”
