‘Gen V’ won’t recast Chance Perdomo’s role following the actor’s death
The creators of The Boys comedy-action spin-off, Gen V, have confirmed that they will not recast the role of leading character Andre Anderson for the second season of the Amazon Prime show following the death of British-American actor Chance Perdomo.
The Gen V star, who had also made appearances in the likes of Sabrina and After Everything, passed away in March at the age of 27 following a motorbike accident.
At the time of the news, the producers of Gen V released a statement regarding the actor’s passing, stating, “For those of us who knew him and worked with him, Chance was always charming and smiling, an enthusiastic force of nature, an incredibly talented performer, and more than anything else, just a very kind, lovely person”.
Since then, the producer’s of the show announced a second season was on the way, taking the opportunity to confirm that nobody would replace Perdomo in the role. In a joint statement, the creators explained that “no one can replace Chance.“
“Instead, we have been taking the time and space to recraft our Season 2 storylines as we begin production in May,” they continued. “We will honor Chance and his legacy this season.” They added that they are ”determined to find the best way to pay respect to his memory”.
Despite his young age, Perdomo was already receiving accolades for his work onscreen. In 2018, his role in the BBC Three series Killed By My Debt gave him his first nomination for the ‘Best Actor in a Leading Role’ Bafta.
Production is set to start on the second instalment of Gen V later this May. However, it is presently unclear whether they have already factored in the necessary editing that will have to take place.
