‘Friends’ actor Maggie Wheeler believes Matthew Perry visited her as a hawk

Maggie Wheeler, who played the character Janice in the hit comedy series Friends, has claimed that she still occasionally feels the physical presence of her late co-star, Matthew Perry.

Perry, who passed away from a drug overdose in 2023, was known for playing Chandler Bing in the NBC series throughout all ten seasons of the show. Bing was the occasional love interest of Wheeler’s character across the series.

Wheeler has now revealed that she is occasionally visited by Perry during an interview on the Still Here Hollywood Podcast with Steve Kmetko, speaking about the spiritual connection she has maintained with the actor since his passing.

“The ripple – the wave was felt by so many,” Wheeler proclaimed. “For me, I felt just heartbroken and sad that he couldn’t make it out of this incredibly dark tunnel that he was in for so long.”

Wheeler then revealed that she had lost her brother to drug addiction in the past and says that she thinks that both he and Perry have managed to make a connection with one another beyond their lives on Earth.

She continued: “There was an incredible moment — I haven’t talked about this anywhere, but if you believe in these kinds of things. Lots of people talk about spirit showing up as birds… and after Matthew died, I was in a neighbor’s pool. And I was alone and there was nobody else was around and I was on my back and I was thinking about my brother, and I said, ‘Look out for him.’ And two hawks flew over my head and flew past me. One circled around and came and got the other one and it flew past me.”

Aside from starring in Friends, Wheeler was known for her guest appearances in other American hit sitcoms such as working under Larry David on Curb Your Enthusiasm and Seinfeld, as well as stints in How I Met Your Mother and Everybody Loves Raymond.
