Freddie Mercury’s alleged secret daughter dead at 48, months after making claims public

A woman who claimed to be the alleged secret daughter of Freddie Mercury has died aged 48.

She didn’t make her identity public and used the pseudonym ‘B’ when making the claims about Mercury being her alleged biological father. Little is known about her, apart from the fact that she is said to have worked as a medical professional in Europe.

Her widower, Thomas, confirmed the news of her death in a statement to the Daily Mail, telling the publication that she died “peacefully after a long battle with chordoma, a rare spinal cancer, leaving two sons aged nine and seven”.

Thomas’ statement continued, “B is now with her beloved and loving father in the world of thoughts. Her ashes were scattered to the wind over the Alps.”

In May 2025, the existence of B was revealed for the first time in Lesley-Ann Jones’ book Love, Freddie: Freddie Mercury’s Secret Life and Love. It was alleged that she was conceived after he had an affair with the wife of a close friend in 1976 and they claimed to have DNA evidence to support the claims.

Jones has paid tribute to B following news of her death, writing, “I am devastated by the loss of this woman who became my close friend, who had come to me with a selfless aim: to brush aside all those who have had free rein with Freddie’s story for 32 years, to challenge their lies and their rewriting of his life, and to deliver the truth.”

Her statement continued, “At the end of her life, it was all that mattered to her. She was very ill throughout the 4 years that we worked together. But she was on a mission. She put herself and her own needs last.”

When B went public with her claims in 2025, she also alleged to have had a close relationship with Mercury until his death.

She wrote in a handwritten letter, “Freddie Mercury was and is my father. We had a very close and loving relationship from the moment I was born and throughout the final 15 years of his life.”

It continued, “He adored me and was devoted to me. The circumstances of my birth may seem, by most people’s standards, unusual and even outrageous. That should come as no surprise. It never detracted from his commitment to love and look after me. He cherished me like a treasured possession.”

Mary Austin, Mercury’s close friend, previously rubbished B’s claims, telling the Sunday Times, “Freddie had a glorious openness, and I cannot imagine he would have wanted to, or been able to, keep such a joyful event a secret, either from me or other people closest to him.”

Additionally, actor Anita Dobson, the wife of Queen guitarist Brian May, told The Telegraph in November that her husband didn’t believe the claims, stating, “Why wait this long? Brian thinks it’s a load of rubbish. I knew Freddie really, really well – I was a good friend of his – and I think Brian would trust me with that knowledge.”
