Frank Ocean’s younger brother Ryan Breaux has tragically died in a car accident in the early hours of Sunday morning. He was just 18.
ABC News 7 reported that two people were killed in a ‘single-vehicle collision’ in Thousand Oaks, California at around 1.30 am. Breaux has been confirmed as one of those killed in the accident.
The report also noted that the cause of the crash was still under investigation but that the impact was enough to “rip the car in half” and leave it “engulfed in flames”.
Two of Breaux’s close friends confirmed that he was indeed one of the people killed in the accident with Ocean himself reportedly at the scene speaking with police officers.
As yet, neither Ocean nor his family have opted to make a statement as they look to first personally reconcile with this tragic news.
Ocean’s early song ‘Orion’ was inspired by his younger brother and written in tribute to him. Breaux’s vocals also featured on Ocean’s seminal album Blonde, on which the younger brother sang on ‘Future Free’.
