Former Deerhunter bassist Josh Fauver dead at 39

Josh Fauver, known most for his time as the longtime bassist of Deerhunter, sadly died over the weekend.

The news was confirmed by the band over Instagram. Fauver was a prolific member of the music scene and was not only a member of Deerhunter but also Atlanta bands Electrosleep International and S.I.D.S. He also ran a label called Army of Bad Luck.

Fauver joined Deerhunter in 2004 after the band’s original bassist Justin Bosworth died following a skateboarding accident. Fauver played on their debut self-titled album (2004), Cryptograms (2007), the Fluorescent Grey EP (2007), Weird Era and Microcastle (2008), Rainwater Cassette Exchange EP (2009), and Halcyon Digest (2010).

Fauver left the band in 2012 but continued to promote Atlanta music through his label Arm of Bad Luck.

Our thoughts are with his loved ones at this time.
