Foo Fighters to play one-off intimate gig for Power To The Patients

Foo Fighters have announced plans to play a one-off intimate gig for Power To The Patients. The non-profit organisation works towards more accessible and transparent healthcare.

After beginning the year in stadiums across New Zealand, the band will take to a much smaller stage for a private show in Washington D.C. on March 5th. Hip hop artists Fat Joe and Chuck D will also appear to show their support for Power To The Patients.

Speaking about their decision to play the show, Foo Fighters shared: “When we were asked by Power To The Patients to helps raise awareness of the need for transparency in healthcare pricing, we immediately said yes. People suffering from illness and injury shouldn’t have to worry about being bankrupted by surprise charges for their treatment.”

Power To The Patients fights for a fairer healthcare system, pushing for pricing transparency to allow patients to make informed decisions about their healthcare. Over 100 million Americans are in medical debt, and while 94% of Americans are in favour of more pricing transparency, only 36% of hospitals adhere to it.

Following the intimate show, Foo Fighters have already announced a series of festival appearances for later in the year, including New Orleans’ Jazz and Heritage Festival alongside the Rolling Stones and Welcome to Rockville with Limp Bizkit and Slipknot.

Last year, Foo Fighters released their eleventh studio record, But Here We Are, which received a four-star review from Far Out. Tim Coffman concluded: “While it’s hard to call But Here We Are a classic Foo Fighters record, it’s definitely a record that should garner respect later as the band comb through their back pages to celebrate their own story of survival.”
