American rock heroes, Foo Fighters, have announced details of four significant UK stadium shows for summer 2022.
The LA-based band will play two nights at the London Stadium, one at Manchester’s Emirates Old Trafford and one at Birmingham’s historic Villa Park. Taking place between June 25 and July 2, the band will be supported by a rotating host of acts that are St. Vincent, Courtney Barnett, Shame, Loose Articles and Hot Milk.
The exciting news comes as the band are currently embarking on a tour in the US. They recently made headlines when frontman Dave Grohl brought his daughter, Violet, on stage to offer up a fantastic rendition of X’s ‘Nausea’ at Chicago’s Lollapalooza. The band also played New York’s Madison Square Garden in June, playing the venue’s first full-capacity show in a year.
Dave Grohl explained to the NME why the band have announced the UK shows: “The last few weeks, we’ve been playing these places that hold maybe 15,000-20,000 people, and a gig that big can still seem intimate”.
He continued: “That’s what we try to bring to those bigger stadiums, to see if we can create a sense of intimacy in a stadium that large.”
The 2022 UK dates will also be the first opportunity British audiences get to hear the tracks from the Foo’s tenth album Medicine At Midnight, which was released in February this year.
