Fontaines DC tease release of new single, ‘It’s Amazing To Be Young’

Less than a year on from the release of their acclaimed album Romance, Irish group Fontaines DC are now teasing their new single ‘It’s Amazing To Be Young’ via their social media accounts.

In a series of cross-platform posts, the band shared an image emblazoned with the phrase ‘It’s Amazing To Be Young’ in a cursive font style, along with a link to the band’s official mailing list.

Searching the exact phrasing as seen in the image on ASCAP, the music publishing rights database, reveals that a song with a matching title has been registered to the band, with its five members credited as songwriters.

No other information regarding a release date for the song has been revealed yet, and there is no indication as to whether this is a standalone release, part of a new album cycle, or to be included on a deluxe reissue of their latest album.

The band later followed up the initial post with a short teaser video that plays a snippet of the song in question, with the video featuring a girl looking solemnly out of the back of a Ford Fiesta as she presses her hands and face against the rear window.

The band will be playing their largest-ever headline show to date later this summer, performing in London’s Finsbury Park on July 5th alongside Australian punks Amyl and the Sniffers and Irish rap trio Kneecap.

Romance was released on August 23rd last year and was the band’s most successful release to date, debuting at number two in the UK Albums Chart behind Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet, and also received two nominations at this year’s Grammy Awards, getting a nod for ‘Best Rock Album’ and ‘Best Alternative Music Performance’ for the single, ‘Starburster’.

The album ranked at number four in Far Out’s ’50 Best Albums of 2024′ list, while ‘Starburster’ crashed in at the top spot on the ‘Songs of the Year’ list.
