Flyte cancel US tour due to visa issues: “Heartbroken”
British indie-folk band Flyte have been forced to postpone their upcoming US and Canada shows due to their American visa being denied.
The band, consisting of Will Taylor and Nick Hill, took to social media to share the bad news. They began their statement, “Feeling a bit heartbroken here. Our American visa has just been denied at the last minute and we can no longer play the upcoming US and Canadian shows.”
The band were set to play 22 upcoming shows in the US and Canada, beginning on October 6th in Vancouver at The Pearl and making stops at cities including Seattle, Portland, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Denver, and Houston. They were due to play in Brooklyn on October 29th at the Music Hall of Williamsburg.
Sadly, now, they will no longer be taking their soft melodies overseas. The statement continued, “We love America and we’ve been coming over for years now with no problems, it’s a country we’ve invested a lot of our soul into.”
They added, “Please hang on to your tickets – we are reapplying for a new visa and rescheduling the dates for next Spring, we’re looking at April. Alternately [sic], you can absolutely have your tickets refunded from where you purchased as well, should the rescheduled date not work for you.”
Flyte are not the only band facing touring complications. Recently, Sports Team had to cancel many of their European shows due to financial strain. Meanwhile, Yusuf / Cat Stevens’ planned tour of the US in support of his new book has been postponed, owing to ongoing visa issues.
In a glowing four-star review of Flyte’s latest release, Between You and Me, Far Out observed, “It’s Flyte’s choice of words that make it feel both confessional and resigned, in a way that feels entirely yours, as the listener. Like the way someone might lean over in a crowded room and utter, “between you and me…” – it’s yours because it feels like it’s yours, and no one else’s. And it’s also yours because it’s yours to figure out along the way.”
