Flogging Molly reveal singer Dave King was in a coma for two weeks

Last month, Celtic-punk band Flogging Molly cancelled all future shows for health reasons, and now, they have revealed it was due to singer Dave King suffering a brain haemorrhage that left him in a coma.

Flogging Molly hosts the Salty Dog Cruise which set sail this year on February 17th from the Port of Miami. However, for the first time, it set sail without them. Several days before the event, they explained this was due to issues with King’s health but refrained from delving into specific details. The band also cancelled all future shows for the rest of 2025.

They noted that King had a “very serious health condition” and revealed they’d share more information as soon as they could, asking them to keep him in their thoughts. Now that the singer’s health has improved significantly, his wife and Flogging Molly bandmate, Bridget Regan, has explained the situation to fans.

On a positive note, Regan stated he is “safely out of the woods” and then stated that King had “suffered a brain haemorrhage and underwent two subsequent surgeries to save his life.”

Due to the haemorrhage, Regan explained that King “then spent two weeks in a coma, followed by varying stages of treatment and recovery. On February 28th he underwent yet another surgery and I now feel confident we are on the other side of this.”

While it’s been an extremely difficult period for King, Regan and the entire Flogging Molly family, she noted, “He is now entering into the next phase of his recovery and wants nothing more than to play music again. The road ahead is uncertain but we, as ever, will roll with the punches and hope to see you all in the near future.”

Regan concluded by expressing gratitude to those who have stood by their side, stating, “To friends and family whose support was unwavering throughout this ordeal, a heartfelt thank you. And a special thanks to everyone who sent well wishes and messages of support. Please look after each other and tell your people you love them. Life can change in an instant.”
