FKA twigs has shared the fifth edition of her Instagram zine AVANTgarden.
Twigs, appearing at London’s Wallace Collection for a photoshoot, posed in vintage Vivienne Westwood clothing as the new issue of AVANTgarden features photography by Roxy Lee.
The new edition follows the hugely popular fourth release, an issue that featured A$AP Rocky posing in what can only be described as an alien-inspired series of photographs.
Also, while appearing at the Wallace Collection, twigs performed a rendition of her new song ‘Cellophane’. Discussing the clip, twigs said: “To perform ‘Cellophane’ at the Wallace Collection is a dream come true—this is my love letter to the artefacts and paintings held within its walls, and to one of my favourite designers Vivienne Westwood whose portrait collection was inspired by these pieces,” in an accompanying statement. “It was an emotional experience to perform in that magical place, and to be wearing these beautiful clothes I’ve spent years collecting,” she added.
Here’s a taster:
‘Cellophane’ marks the first new music from twigs in four years, her last record came in the shape of M3LL155X, an album which was released way back in 2015.
“Throughout my life I’ve practiced my way to being the best I could be,” Twigs wrote on social media about the release. “It didn’t work this time. I had to tear down every process I’d ever relied on. Go deeper. Rebuild. Start again.”
The news comes just days after the singer announce a string of tour dates that will also see her play New York City, Sydney and Hobart in Australia before returning to Europe to play Berlin, Paris, Barcelona and London.
