Rising folk duo Ferris & Sylvester have shared their gorgeous new single ‘Knock You Down’ — which is premiering exclusively on Far Out.
The latest effort from the band also sees them use Mellotron flutes and cellos which inject an extra layer of magic into their unique blend of contemporary folk with a pinch of the blues thrown in for good measure.
The duo is made up of Issy Ferris and Archie Sylvester and, together, they become Streatham’s answer to Americana and cook up an absolute sonic delight.
‘Knock You Down’ is the latest track to be released from their upcoming EP I Should Be On A Train out on October 2nd via LAB Records, which was prefaced with the titular track last month and is shaping up to be an impressive release.
Regarding the song, Ferris & Sylvester say: “We are so excited to have this song out in the world. We decided to take this somewhere different, away from anything we have done before. For us, it feels like the most personal song from the collection, referencing our own childhood nostalgia, like learning about Vikings and pink icing on Fridays.”
“There’s such a pressure on people to reach their goals and dreams as quickly as possible. It can make you feel older than you are, wishing that you could be younger, braver and more free. Making this one was a lot of fun and we hope it awakens the confident, daring child inside the listener,” the duo added.
Their upcoming I Should Be On A Train EP follows from their much loved Made In Streatham EP in 2018, which has so far received over four million streams and helped start the incredible journey that has taken the duo all around the world over the last couple of years.
Ferris & Sylvester’s brand new track is also the latest episode of Far Out Magazine’s new Facebook series ‘Emerging Sounds’, a project which shines a light on some of the best new music that’s simmering under the radar right now.
