Former Dead Kennedys singer Jello Biafra issues health update following stroke

Jello Biafra, former frontman of punk heavyweights Dead Kennedys, has issued a health update after suffering a stroke earlier this year.

Biafra was taken to hospital on March 7th following a hemorrhagic stroke, which was caused by his high blood pressure.

Almost two months on from the serious health incident, Biafra has now kept fans in the loop and confirmed he is on the road to recovery.

The statement, which was shared by Dead Kennedys, reads positively, “Jello update. Jello is progressing nicely. His speech has mostly come back in full, and cognitively, it’s like the stroke never happened. The left side is still weak but it is doing much better than it was.”

On an optimistic note, the statement continued, “He has been living with me so I can care for him, but he is so much more self sufficient than he was, he will most likely go home this coming week.”

It concluded with a message of gratitude, which reads, “Thank you again for the outpouring of support. It has meant the world to him.”

Upon revealing he had suffered a stroke in March, Biafra horrifyingly recalled the incident, which occurred as he got up from his bed to go to the toilet.

He revealed, “I hopped out of my bed because I needed to pee, and my left leg just collapsed under me and I fell to the floor. I couldn’t even break the fall with my left arm because it wasn’t working either. I tried to hop back up again, and I couldn’t.”

Per the Stroke Association, a haemorrhagic stroke occurs due to bleeding in or around the brain, which they say can damage brain cells, which affect how the body works, and “can also change how you think, communicate and feel.”
